Several castles, fortified palaces, and keeps controlled the trade route, and played a key role in times of threat imposed by the Ottoman Empire. Today, <strong>the Castle Route of the Hron River Valley<\/strong> connects 16 of these sites <strong>from Hronsk\u00fd Be\u0148adik<\/strong> <strong>to the city of Zvolen.<\/strong> Most sites belong to the GRON region, are open to the public almost all year round, and are easily accessed via hiking trails. In 2021, all stops of the Castle Route were decorated with the same adornment \u2013 a welcoming totem. Information panels were installed in castle ruins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cPust\u00fd hrad\u201d (\u201cDeserted Castle\u201d) in Zvolen, Zvolen Palace, Dobr\u00e1 Niva<\/strong> castle, and the ruins of the <strong>Pe\u0165u\u0161a Castle<\/strong>, form part of the Castle Route in the Hron River Valley. The ruins of the <strong>\u017dak\u00fdl castle<\/strong> are in the Bansk\u00e1 \u0160tiavnica region.<br>K Pohronskej hradnej ceste patria v regi\u00f3ne Stredn\u00e9 Slovensko <strong>Pust\u00fd hrad pri Zvolene<\/strong>, <strong>Zvolensk\u00fd z\u00e1mok<\/strong>, hrad <strong>Dobr\u00e1 Niva<\/strong> a zaniknut\u00fd hrad <strong>Pe\u0165u\u0161a<\/strong>. Prehliadky s\u00fa doplnen\u00e9 aj sprievodn\u00fdm programom. Light signals shine from the castles during this event, to imitate smoke and fire signals used to alert castles of danger in the past. Every year, visitors of <strong>the Revi\u0161te castle<\/strong> enjoy<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/regiongron.sk\/podujatia\/glgac-2024-hrnciarska-slavnost-na-hrade-reviste-18-5-2024\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/regiongron.sk\/podujatia\/glgac-2024-hrnciarska-slavnost-na-hrade-reviste-18-5-2024\/\">the pottery festival \u201cGlg\u00e1\u010d\u201d<\/a><\/strong>, the Castle and Ruins Night of Terror, the King Race for children, or night theatre shows. For two decades <strong>\u201c\u0160\u00e1\u0161ov Castle Tournaments\u201d<\/strong> and concerts of chamber music have welcomed children and adults to \u0160\u00e1\u0161ov Castle.
