The ruins are approximately 2 km from the town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the past, the castle overlooked the crossroad of routes to the towns of Zvolen and Kremnica, along the Hron river. It was built in the altitude of 340m on the \u201cOrl\u00ed kame\u0148\u201d (\u201cEagle\u2019s Rock\u201d) directly above the Hron river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nowadays, the castle is being operated and gradually reconstructed by the Association for \u0160\u00e1\u0161ov Castle Preservation (\u201cZdru\u017eenie na z\u00e1chranu hradu \u0160\u00e1\u0161ov\u201d).
