The memorial is a symbol of the bloody Sunday, the 21st of January 1945, when the anti-partisan unit EDELWEISS, together with a special unit of the SS and a 100-strong detachment of HEIMATSCHUTZ, raided the village of Kľak and murdered 84 people.
The village also has a Memorial Room since 1963, with objects reminding of the fire set to Kľak in 1945. If you are interested in the visit, please contact the Municipal Office in Kľak.
