The calvary was built in 1901-1908. Its initiator and author of the idea was the local parish priest Augustín Bogisich. Originally it was intended to build only the Chapel of the Holy Cross on the top of the unforested hill called Zmina. A small Neo-gothic church with one nave and three towers, built in 1901-1902, was meant to commemorate the millennium from the conversion of Hungary to Christianity.
In 1903, the inhabitants of Hliník decided to add chapels to the church on the hill. The layout of chapels is symmetric in three rows, 2 rows of chapels on the right represent Via Crucis. The chapels are interconnected by a rising path. Lindens and maples are planted in between. On the eastern hillside, deciduous trees get mixed, and a dense pine forest on the west. In the spring and summer months, the space is beautifully green thanks to the grass, but a walk around the Calvary in every season has its charm.
