1. TIP - BENEDICTINE ABBEY OF HRONSKÝ BEŇADIK AND THE PLAGUE CHAPEL
A must-see in your visit to Hronský Beňadik is the Benedictine Abbey with its Gothic cathedral. It is the second oldest abbey in Slovakia, with the earliest known record dating back to 1075. After you visit the monastery, take a walk-through local vineyard paths, wine cellars, or the Plague Chapel. There are two beautiful viewpoints on the trail to the chapel which you ought not miss.

2. TIP - BREHY VILLAGE - FABKA VILLAGE HOUSE, POTTERY MUSEUM, HULÍN HILL
Visitors who seek a genuine hiking experience can take a walk from the town of Nová Baňa to the village of Brehy, and continue to the hill called "Hulín". Make a stop in the oldest house of the village, the Fabka house with its thatched roof, or visit the Pottery Museum. Potter Ján Fiala will be happy to show you around. If you go rafting on the Hron river, dock at a boating berth.

3. TIP - TEKOVSKÁ BREZNICA - RUINS OF BREZNICA CASTLE AND VOLCANO PUTIKOV VŔŠOK
You will find a unique site in the village of Tekovská Breznica ("Bresnitz an der Gran") - Putikov vŕšok, the youngest volcano in Central Europe. Sézam cave is located on the way to the volcano. The hill gets its colour from light red stones. We recommend a pleasant hike to the ruins of Breznica castle and the nearby Falcon Rock ("Sokolia skala") on the castle road of the Hron River valley.

4. TIP - REVIŠTE CASTLE AND RUINS OF RUDNO CASTLE
Rudno nad Hronom is our pick for easy hiking and history enthusiasts. There are multiple castle ruins on the castle road of the Hron valley, and Rudno is one of them. Once you have passed the town of Žarnovica, you will find its precise opposite - a very lively Revište castle, a venue of many events in the summer season, such as the pottery festival "Glgáč". Both castles offer guided visits. For time and dates of guided tours, see www.zahoramizadolami.sk

5. TIP - VOZNICA - HEREDITARY UNDERGROUND PASSAGE, SMRKÁČIK HILL, PRIMEVAL FOREST
In the unassuming village of Voznice you can find the Hereditary Underground Adit of Joseph II. It used to be the longest mining structure of its time, currently a UNESCO site. The Smrkáčik hill looms above the village. It is an ideal place for a short walk and rest. Both locations can be accessed via the red hiking trail. Consider a cycling trip to the "Richňavská dolina" valley with its hidden Kojatín primeval forest, mouflon reserve, and giant sequoias.
