5 TIPS FOR TRIPS IN SKLENÉ TEPLICE

1. TIP - SKLENÉ TEPLICE SPA

Both in winter and summer months, make sure you visit the spa with its steam bath "Parenica" - a unique gem in Europe. Take your cup of coffee in café "Kursalón", have lunch at restaurant "U Borna" (At Borna's), and enjoy a wellness stay as a visitor or a hotel guest. Join satisfied visitors in trying the Mining bath, Maria Theresa bath, massages, saunas and an outdoor swimming pool open in summer. Goethe was one of the spa's famous guests!

2. TIP - RUINS OF TEPLICA CASTLE

Those interested in hiking and history should go from the town of Sklené Teplice to the abandoned Teplica castle. The route takes less than an hour, despite of its steeper beginning - if you are fit. You will learn about the history of the palace on the information board on the access road, and right on the hill you can observe and guess what the preserved ruins of castle walls used to be. A shorter and less demanding trail starts in the village of Repište.

3. TIP - KEČKA LOOKOUT OVER NATURE RESERVE BRALCE

If you are enchanted by the Slovak Paradise national park, you can find a part of it in the "Štiavnické vrchy" hills near the village of Hliník nad Hronom. Ladders, chains, rocks, views and lookouts can be found on a round trip to Kečka Lookout over Bralce (nature reserve), as well as the remains of mined pink rhyolite once used to carve the Plague Column on the Trinity Square in the city of Banská Štiavnica. Hikers in fine fettle will appreciate the opportunity to hike directly from the town of Sklené Teplice, with a stop in Teplica Castle.

4. TIP - ROUTE REPIŠTE (VILLAGE) - BIMBÍZ (HILL) AND HOCKEYPLAYERS´ CROSS

The village of Repište is only a few minutes away by foot, and a bus line is also available. This small village is known for beautiful meadows, views, and forests. And you will discover a unique rarity on the Bimbíz hill - a cross dedicated to Slovak hockey players, especially those who won the gold medal in the 2002 World Championship! Once you arrive, visit the site of the Wilkens Trees (at the "Pionier" bus stop), or look for other crosses in the area. It's also worth to come cycling!

5. TIP - MARCUS CASTLE

For some, a medieval castle in its full glory, for others a tawdry kitsch. Explore the Marcus castle. A businessman ordered the construction of this modern building for his son. Although the castle is not inhabited and is closed to the public, it attracts the attention of passers-by, and many come here intentionally. It takes 45 minutes to reach the Marcus castle from the Repište village at a relaxed pace. Come, take a picture, and decide for yourself if you like the castle. Or just stop by during your hike to the Golden hill ("Zlatý vrch"), or during your cycling trip in the area.
