The Regional Observatory and Planetarium of Maximilian Hell is a cultural and educational facility of a natural science character, disseminating knowledge from the field of astronomy and related natural and technical sciences. It organizes leisure activities and boosts extracurricular education.
The main goal is to shape scientific knowledge, develop a positive relationship with nature, and increase the general, professional, and cultural education of visitors, especially children and youth. The activities of the planetarium target the central Hron River region. However, many activities have a supra-regional or nationwide impact.
The offer includes thematic programs for school excursions, the general public, school, or other clubs. The programmes present astronomical phenomena on the artificial sky of the planetarium in the fully digitalised Star Hall, popular-scientific and professional lectures, discussions, film and audiovisual film projections, video projections or observations of celestial bodies and phenomena in the day and night sky using astronomical optics.
