The Barborská cesta project connects the important mining towns of central Slovakia with a route that acquaints the visitor with the values of mining, its history and natural wealth. The trail name is inspired by Saint Barbara, the patron saint of miners.
The trail mainly relies on the existing infrastructure. Its aim is to boost the increasingly popular "green" tourism. The entire journey takes 9 days, and apart from learning about nature and the historic landmarks, you may also get to know more about yourself. The tower, which served as prison cell of St. Barbara, the patroness of miners, is a symbol of the whole project.

The trail consists of 9 stages divided into 29 stops. Pilgrims will find three stops in the Gron Region. At Stop 14, the visitor will discover the Šášovský Castle, Stop 15 is the spa village Sklené Teplice, and its steam bath "Parenica" in a cave. There is the modern Marcus Castle in the Repište village, followed by Stop 16 - the Chapel of St. Barbara. Pilgrims can collect stamps from individual stops in the Pilgrim's Pass and be rewarded by a badge and Certificate of Completion of the Barbora Journey. In Repiště, you can get a stamp at the municipal office, or at Repište Tavern.
