Vtáčnik Hill (1346 m above sea level) is the highest peak of the eponymous mountain, and a favoured destination of tourists and cyclists. Vtáčnik is also the highest peak of the GRON region. From the peak, tourists enjoy breathtaking views to the basins of Žiar and Horná Nitra. The peak was also declared a national nature reserve, and is crowned by a cross made of stainless steel.

Several hiking trails lead here. The shortest starts in the centre of the Kľak village. It is a green signposted trail for most of its length; the round-trip takes over 5 hours. Several paths lead to the peak - the green trail from the Kľak municipality, the yellow trail from municipality Ostrý Grúň, and the red Great Nitra Route (“Ponitrianska magistrála”) over the peaks, to name just a few.
There are also trails from Kamenec pod Vtáčnikom, from villages Lehota pod Vtáčnikom and Prochot.
